Gardening for others
While this is primarily a blog to track the trial and error of Nick and I's own little backyard garden, I think it is appropriate to briefly mention another area garden I had the pleasure of working in this beautiful Saturday morning: a community garden just down the road from Nick's house where juvenile delinquents can complete community service hours ordered by the court! It is a good sized project- all in raised beds. The food is donated to East Fort Bend Human Needs and distributed to low income families. I weeded out the lettuce and swiss chard bed while I was there. I learned two important things: I need to be giving our garden approx. 3 times more water than I am, and I need to find a way to compost!
